Model Train Show

Fried chicken, fish, hamburgers, pork steaks, homemade desserts, ice cream, cold beer, soda and water will be available.

The 175th Jubilee Committee is now selling commemorative T-shirts with the 175th logo on them. Shirts come in blue or green with sizes small to extra large for $15 and 2XL for $16. Other sizes may be ordered if needed. Payment may be made by cash or check. Contact Jessica Take 618-410-3058 to purchase.

The Alhambra Fire Department received a gift of several types of fire gear from the Darien-Woodridge Fire Department in Darien, Illinois. This included two wetsuits, three small work lamps, one New York hook, large area search line, an extrication blanket and a hydrant wrench.

Alhambra Primary students will welcome Ms. Susie Kronk as school principal this year. Ms. Kronk is replacing Mrs. Hickey who has retired from Alhambra and Grantfork Schools.

Preschool Developmental Screening info for children ages 3-5. This screening is free of charge and provides general information about childhood development.

This screening is open to all families and does not mean your child must attend the class.

The screening will take place at the Highland Primary School at 1810 Lindenthal Ave. Appointments are necessary. Screening dates are Tuesday, Aug. 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 16, 9 a.m. to noon; Friday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to noon.

Alhambra Volunteer firemen will sell their annual Fire Department Raffle tickets from now until Saturday, Aug. 5.

Proceeds from these raffles help to purchase and maintain much needed equipment.

This year’s raffle prizes include: first prize - Winchester Wildcat 22; second prize - Savage Axis 11 223; third prize - Winchester SXP 20 gauge; fourth prize - $200 cash, and fifth prize - $100 cash. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25.

You must be 18 years or older in order to buy a ticket and legally allowed to purchase a firearm.
